I can’t update my PS4 if keeps coming up SU-42118-6 i read that it was the disc drive the old one would not that discs so i brought another from consoleparts4u. I have just installed the new disc drive which was straight forward. But still can not get through the system update and i keep getting the same error. The new disc drive will not take disc as well. Have anyone got any more ideas. I have tried updating using usb in safe mode as well as system reset and new install but both didn’t work.
When replacing the disc drive, did you make sure you used the logic board from your old disc drive? This board is married to the motherboard it won’t work without it. If replacing disc drive on a cuh-1115 or Cuh-1001 it can be really to confuse as they’re identical but the laser ribbons are different. One is a little smaller.
I have same problem ..is as fix from them ..they need to sell the ps5 which is coming out very soon ..and in order to buy that ..just release an update which is not compatible with us system and game over ..buy the new PS …
It’s just a scheme to get you to buy or replace them there was no need for this update its a virus
I have this problem as well. I have a ps4 slim and to fix this issue, you would have to replace fuse f6202. But I don’t have the part or the tools to do it. The fuse is very small
