Owned a PS4 for 16 months but due to children and a busy life, I hardly play on it. When I do, the PS4 turns off randomly with no warning and sometimes wont continue to power up after five seconds and a blue beep? Please help, as I don’t want to pay PS to fix it. These issues have been since day one but due to buying the PS4 and didn’t play it straightaway I couldn’t take it back to the shop. Thanks in advance for your time.
Hi, This can be caused by a few issues. While using a PS4, ALWAYS be sure to run the system, while it is not concealed by an entertainment unit. these systems produce a lot of heat, and if it is not in the open whilst runnin, it can easily cause issues.
- Clogged system causing Overheat - Open up the device, blow out all the dustand dirt, apply new thermal paste, and test to see if that fixes the issue.
- Faulty Power Supply - The power supply may be failing. In this sense, it is required to be replaced.
- Processor Short - The processor and GPU may need to be reballed, in which case, you will need to open up the device, unsolder the Processing Units, Reball fresh solder to them, and reassemble the device.
- Board Failure, or physical damage - This can include interna component shorts, as well as damaged relays and mechanical failures. This is not repairable at reasonable costs, and it is cheaper to buy a new device. If you take this to a local electronics repair store, they will likely charge a bench fee to diagnose which of these it is, then call you with repair costs.
