Hi, Had a lightning strike to the electrical grid and several dead electronics, including my PS4 slim. It was off at the time. I have disassembled it and can not see any visible damage to PCBs or any components. Would replacing the power supply help? Any hope that it would work again? Or any fuse that could be blown? Ideas?
Hi, You may have to remove the PSU and open it up and inspect and test for any damage. If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) this will make it easier to test the fuse in the PSU to check if it is blown or not by using its Ohmmeter function to test the fuse for continuity, as it may not be obvious that it has blown by just looking at it. Here’s the ifixit PlayStation 4 Slim Power Supply Replacement guide, that will help with the removal of the PSU. Never opened a PS4 PSU myself but usually with PSUs the main fuse will be located near to where the power connects to the board and it usually has a board designation of F (F = fuse) e.g. F1 If the fuse has blown then hopefully replacing it will be all that is necessary but still check for any other component damage e.g. diodes in circuit following the fuse etc. If there is or you’re not quite sure, post some close up images of the board back here. Here’s how to do this on ifixit Adding images to an existing question
