I’m working on a ps3 right now. Initial problem was it wouldn’t read game discs. I swapped a blu ray drive from another console that was reading discs. No help. I’m thinking it’s another hardware issue besides the blu ray drive. Everything inside the console is clean. It won’t read blu ray games and movies. Won’t read ps1 games or cds. Won’t read dvds. Like I said, I swapped blu ray drives thinking it would fix the problem, it didn’t.
You could try to clean the lazer with rubbing alcohol but there is also a chance that you will need to replace the Blu ray lazer. Tho depending on the model you may need to open it(super slim doesn’t require opening it but the rest do).
