Hiya, So I was having the issue where the power button was not clicking at all. So I was pretty confident it was the proximity cable that needed to be replaced (with the orange clicky dome for the power button). I followed the guide to replace it and after about 4 hours (took me wayyy longer than expected), I have everything put back together. My power button now clicks like new, but doesnt seem to work. Actually it seems to randomly work, and doesnt seem to matter the amount of pressure I apply when it does work. Also I think my proximity sensor no longer works but I haven’t had a phone call yet to properly test it. What did I miss in there?? Is it something else entirely?

Good to hear that your power button works again. The problem with your proximity not working is probably caused by a missing filter on your new flex. Most flexes nowadays get shipped without this filter. You have to transfer this filter from the old proximity sensor to the new one. That will most certainly do the trick. Have a look at the following picture: http://www.beijingiphonerepair.com/wp-co… The part pointed in this picture as proximity sensor is the one you need to be looking at. This particular one is also missing the filter by the way. Just check your old flex if it has a filter (with a small foam boarder) on it and transfer it to your new one. Good luck and please let me know if this solved your problem.

When replacing the proximity sensor flex the UV filter and foam is left on the old flex. The iFixit guide does not include the steps to move this filter to the new flex so most people miss it. If you no longer have the original filter sticker and foam available it is available HERE You can see the sticker fitted in the attached picture

It is best to remove the screen to fit the sticker from the front.

Same thing happened to me after 4 hours of work. None concerned about the sensor, I need my power button to work. That was the point. What do?

@roundo32 Make sure the little cable connections are all actually “plugged in” under neath the black shield thing. I think thats what stopped mine from working one of the times I opened it. I ended up fixing everything so it can all work out in the end!

I found out that I missed to replace both the UV-filter/foam + the shield thingy in plastic. Now my proximity sensor does not appear to work. I tried to put the shield thing back, but can’t figure out how, as it is loose and falls off too easily. Don’t know if I’ll bother with opening it all upp for the third time. You can manage alright without it I think.
