Hi all, I got a ASRock B450M Pro4 motherboard with 16GB of ram. I am using AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Processor. Also I got 16GB (2x8) of RAM memory. Model of the RAM: HyperX Predator HX430C15PB3K2 I checked the site of ASRock and the memory should work with this motherboard. Yes it is, but in Windows it is showing 16GB and only 8GB usable. I tried setting the MHz to 3000 but still the same issue. The BIOS is at the latest version. If I only use one slot of RAM and set it to 3000MHz than it will show 3000 in the main screen of the BIOS. So with one slot it will save correctly. However if I try to set it to 3000 with 2 RAMS, it will not ‘save’ the settings at the Main screen in the BIOS shows still 2400. What could be the problem?
One of the simple things to remember is most modern-day MB’s are dual channels. I am not trying second guess your ability or previous experience, it’s the little things that can stump us at times. Usually slot 1 and 3, and or 2 and 4 are together. The order depends on the orientation from the CPU. Running only 1 stick of ram is not recommended as the controller is basically tripping over itself looking for the other ram channel. As another person noted I believe the speed of the ram is close to the limit for the MB. I have had similar issues and have had to change speeds slower not over clocking the ram or letting it run at its native speed. Hope this helps.
