I need some guidance in replacing my SSD in my 15” MacBook Pro. I purchased the OWC Aura SSD and thought I was following the instructions they provided with it, but I think they should have provided more instructions than what they did. I put in the new SSD, and put the case back on turned on the computer and pressed the cmd+option+r and the first thing that popped up on the screen was a question mark and it never moved from that point. So, what did I wrong or is there another procedure I should have followed or did I miss a step because now I reading about cloning and what not? I’m lost. Can someone help? Will

Try booting again, but this time only press/hold Command and R. You should boot into internet recovery, try installing macOS on the new OWC drive, if the computer can’t “see” the drive, you’ll have to put the original drive back in and update to (at least) macOS High Sierra. I believe it has to do with the new APFS, (Apple File System) that was implemented in HS and the computers firmware. In fact, OWC should have included paper work on it, I remember mine did. Your getting the question mark folder because the computer can’t find a bootable source; which makes sense because the new OWC drive will be blank. (No OS)
