I have an iPhone 7+ that out of no where stopped charging. By the time I realized it, it was down to 8%. Once the battery drained, it would show me the battery symbol and cord image instructing me to plug it in. When I would do that nothing happens. Is it charging port or software?

It could be a bad battery, a bad charging port or a bad tristar ic control chip. I would first take it to a shop and have them check the tristar ic with a tristar tester. It only takes a couple of minutes to test and I don’t think they will charge you. I would call and make sure they have the tester. If it tests good I would try a new battery if that doesn’t work I would try a new charging port. A battery is about 15 dollars and the charging port is around 5 dollars. If it needs the tristar chip replaced I would have to professional that has an excellent reputation do it. They will give you a price upfront and guarantee to repair it or no cost. The reason the chip fails usually is because using aftermarket charging cables that aren’t MFI certified. They doesn’t have the chip that stops power surges and can damage the chip. If you need to tristar ic replace I would recommend jessa at ipad rehab ipadrehab.com or Jason at sts telecom ststelecom.com they have excellent reputations and both have YouTube channels. Jessa is one of the best in the field.
