Screen stays black all lights on keyboard come on
Melisa Carter could be an issue with your LCD or with your GPU (motherboard). Start off by connecting an external monitor and see if that will display anything. If it does you will know that your computers LCD is having issues. You will also have to give us a proper model number since “hp laptop 2000 or so” will not be sufficient to guide you further.
