Spilled yogurt into the right vents, and it got into the display connector. Logic board and everything else seems fine (yogurt never got there). Here’s some images: https://imgur.com/a/zFL48

What’s my best option?

  • Clean it with alcohol?
  • Order a replacement screen (they go for around 300-400USD)
  • Send to apple and PRAY they don’t charge me >1000USD (no AppleCare :( ) I tried to turn it on after 48h in rice, and it did work, albeit with weird transparent bar going on and off every few seconds. Can I test that the screen connector IS the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated in this time of frustration.

Before you send it to apple at least try plugging it into an exterior monitor. This way you can see if it is the connector going to the screen of your mac or if it is something else.

Sorry Rice is a myth! It does not work on yogurt only water ;-{ And it only pulls moisture out of the air not wetness like a spill. Besides, just like when you spill your coffee the solids will still be left which can be more harmful concentrated. If you had opened it up sooner you likely would have saved it. While connectors on this side look bad how does the main logic board connectors and the ribbon cable? If they are clean you have a chance here in just replacing the display assembly. If they look as bad then you may need a new ribbon cable and possibly a new logic board as well. FYI the connector is hidden on the backside of the logic board.
