Hi, A friend of mine’s iPhone 6 took a dip in water. She took it to a repair center. They extracted the data from it, but told her it’s not repairable. To start with; is it possible to extract data from a non-functioning water damaged phone? If the phone won’t turn on (and is not repairable), how is it possible to extract the data from it? Second, I opened it up to try to see where the liquid contact indicators are, in an attempt to see if they might have switched out the board for another non-working one. (My reasoning: if the LCIs on the board are not red, this would mean this isn’t her board). I was only able to find the one behind the SIM card tray, and it is red. Anyone know where the others are?
Thanks!
It is NOT possible to dump data without powering on the phone and putting in the passcode, unless the user has icloud enabled and the data has been backed up automatically. The other LCI is at the top end of the board.
