Chosen Solution

Hi there, I have done it, is set a supervisor password on my portege x20w (why not what can go wrong) and like all my passwords, i forgot it… My first instinct was to reset CMOS but, no battery to do so… Does anyone know how to reset the password since now i cant even boot it anymore Regards Mx

Try this… Entering BIOS in Toshiba Portege Turn off your Toshiba computer.Power on the machine.Press F12 key repetitively as soon as the booting begins until the BIOS menu screen appears. Hopefully there is option to restore defaults at that point. If not more ideas here… https://itstillworks.com/reset-toshiba-c… The warnings at the bottom of that page sound kind of discouraging. Maybe a bootable USB windows image might allow resetting that CMOS. This is why I keep all my passwords encrypted and backed up on removable media (USB). Yes it is a hassle but so is losing your passwords.

Don’t know if you are still looking to do this, but I just reset the password on my Portege X20W-D by unscrewing the back cover, unplugging the battery from the motherboard, waiting 10 minutes or so, and reassembling.
