I’ve recently been given an old “proteolytic barista”. It seems to operate perfectly fine except for one major thing. The portafilter does not screw into place tightly. Any ideas?
Does the portafilter leak around the edge when brewing? If so the most likely cause is a dry and worn out group head gasket; it should be soft and pliable to the touch. They are fairly easy to replace once the group head screen is removed.
