After taking my console apart for cleaning (no issues prior, was just very dirty & getting quite warm), when I reassembled the disc drive it wouldn’t take a disc. If I fed a disc in with the manual eject screw it gave an unrecognised disc error. So I took it apart again & gave the disc drive a thorough clean (not the lithium grease on the motor rail though), and checked all of the gears, sliders, arms, rollers & connecting piece. I also checked that none of the ribbon cables are broken & the fuses for the disc drive with my multimeter in continuity mode & none of them are blown. Now, it still won’t take a disc or eject it by itself, but does read discs & play fine if I insert a disc using the manual eject screw method. Will rebuilding the database help at all? So I started with a working disc drive, and now have a half working disc drive 😅. Feeling a bit stupid & a bit stumped, can anyone help me with this please? Simon.
So the blu-ray drive works, just not the intake/eject? These are handled by the motor on the KLD-004 board. In order for it to work, the fuses cannot be blown, the ribbons have to be plugged in and undamaged, All the switches need to be intact and operational both mechanically and electrically, and the motor itself needs to be healthy. Some of these you have checked, others you may not have. Worst case scenario, MobileSentrix has the part available for like $6, which would address anything it could be other than fuses and ribbons.
