I don’t know how to name that part but hopefully pictures will show what i’m talking about. It is only their 6th month, so that sucks. But I would appreciate any help or suggestions how to fix that
by now the OP probably has the fixed already. Just for completion sake, there is really not much you can do. This is part of a design issue and Skullcandy is most likely not doing anything about it. You can try to make a bond out of thin metal and strap it around the broken part then use some small sheet metal screws to attach that band. Adhesives will most likely not work since there is movement and stress on the part. Of Course you can always try and get a set of headphones that is broken on places other than yours and then harvest the part needed from those.

I know that this is late but there is a bigger solution to fixing this. I just tried this product yesterday on my skullcandy wireless crushers, now i have pictures that it definitely holds, sturdy as heck and unlike other glues a little does go a long way. The glue i used is loctite epoxy plastic bonder. And also you can cover any of it with black paint as well. (20 minutes to bond, 24 hours to completely cure.

Same happened to my headphones after 3 (!) months. I have an idea to print this part on 3d printer and add some additional metal parts to make it more “bendproof”. Also I wil make a “dangerous” part a little bit wider for additional safety. The only thing: I don’t know how to disassemble the part where metal band puts into this part. I see that it can be disassembled but I.m not sure how to do it right =) Does anyone evere disassembled this part and know how the metal band connects to it?
[FIXED] I broke mine a couple of times (glued back then broke again). Finally I got tired of the superglue routine and decided to dig around my tools for something stronger. Well… the solution actually came from my kids play bin. I found “Melty Beads” (available at Walmart). I re-superglued the pieces together again. But this time, I wanted to reinforce the plastic where it breaks. So after applying the superglue, I heated up my solder gun, with a flat bit at the front, grabbed some black plastic beads from the box and melted two beads (layered) on each crack. Now, this is not pretty, but I use them in my home office so it doesn’t matter. [edit] I sanded down the surfaces before the melting / plastic welding process
Hi all, Would they replace it if I tried to work it out with superglue initially and it failed? Like, would they take back a product if customer tried to fix them temporarily? P.S. it is still in warranty. Has anyone got a replacement when they tried fixing the product first but then decided to ship it for replacement? Thanks
The best option to do is to replace the headphones. It may take some time and under $10 for shipping but you will get a brand new box and pair of headphones. These headphones come with a limited time warranty and it’s great! I am on my third pair of them and love them. My brother also got a pair and they broke and he sent them in. If you get the fast shipping you can send it out Monday and get it back Friday. Here’s how to do it: 1.) Go to https://warranty.skullcandy.com/ 2.) Select “Headphone” 3.) Changes: The metal band is now thinnerThere are now 4 screws above the cup which makes it look like it would be more repairable if parts were available for purchaseThe white headband feels like it’s slightly thicker but this might just be my eyesThe white plastic housing on the top part of the metal band is now reinforced and thicker I don’t know why they made these changes but hopefully it was for the better. So far the white ones are holding up and so are my older black ones. Besides those changes everything is the same from sound quality to battery life. Also as a disclaimer the white pair always had the canvas top vs the leather so that I didn’t include. Speculation for why they would change the design like that would be to make it more repairable and it’s now probably cheaper to manufacture because of the smaller headband, but that’s just my guess. If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to answer them! I also noticed that there are no tare down videos so I will release a tare down video of the older pair on my YouTube channel if anyone is interested just search Skullcandy Crusher Wireless Tare Down and it should be there.
