So I’m wondering if I install my 2 ssd drives from my 2008 Mac pro and put them in my 2012 mac mini will I have any issues? I’m letting go of my 2008 mac pro because I can not upgrade it any longer. So I’m buying a bunch of external hard drive enclosures and creating my mac mini pro…ish My mac pro has El captain on it I will be able to go to majove on the mac mini… But my 2nd ssd has my virtual instruments on it. I’m not trying to create a fusion drive of any sort. I’m just transfering my existing drives to my new computer will I have any problems installing the 2nd ssd drive?
I can tell you you shouldn’t have any problems installing the two SSD drives into your system. I my self have a 2012 mini with 2 Samsung SSD’s as a media server and its my backup server using two external HD’s. The SSDs are setup as a dual drive config to gain the maximum storage. The only issue you might encounter an issue is the OX-X your 2009 is running may not offer the needed hardware drivers for your newer 2012 mini. You may want to first backup anything on the boot drive and then reformat when connected to your still running 2012 system before you swap things around. The only thing you might want to review is your SSD’s specs. Your SSD’s maybe just SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) Vs the faster SATA III (6.0 Gb/s). If your boot drive is a smaller 256 GB drive you might consider getting a newer drive to squeeze out the maximum performance.
