I went for a run with my iphone in my hand, it was perfectly fine no issues at all. When I was finished with my run the phone had white vertical lines and an unresponsive touch screen. I initially thought it was moisture, but after a few hours of keeping my phone in rice I tried to power it on and the phone would turn on, then off, then on again and was still unresponsive. I had to go to work so I left it at home and when I came back it wouldn’t charge or turn on or anything. I tried plugging it into my computer this morning to see if my phone could at least register it as an external device but it didn’t even do that. Right now my iphone is the perfect paper weight.
First rice will not do anything to help solve the issues you are having. Try to plug the phone in using an original apple charger cord, if you have the larger plug “the brick” which is used to charge a iPad use that to plug your USB cord into, the brick has more charging power. Let it sit on the charger for 30 mins. push and hold down the power button and home button together for 20 seconds in hope of the phone starting up, can try this a couple of times. If no luck then the phone will need to be opened to look for water damage, and have some testing done, making sure it’s charging, battery, screen and so on.
