Chosen Solution
The previous owner said it hasn’t been used in a few years, but it worked, I completely cleaned out the charging point, the battery looked good, but I’m unable to get it to show any signs of life. It also won’t go into DFU and show on my computer
Hello @charliewhile If you have a good test battery, you can try and test out the iPhone by switching out the battery and see if it gives any signs of life. I have experienced issues with some lithium batteries receiving some type of “shock” after being turned on or charged for the first time in a while. I think even Nintendo has a couple of articles where a switch or DS won’t turn on after it hasn’t been turned on in a while with the solutions provided. You can also try changing the charging port if you happen to have a spare one. This could also fix the issue of the device not being recognized by the computer. The issue of the phone not showing up in iTunes is a little weird if the previous owner has stated that it worked. However, you can try this solution if the phone is just not being recognized by iTunes or the computer. There are two good answers on this iFixit forum that you can try out. iPhone isn’t recognized by computer as a device? If both of these don’t work, the last attempt I can think of is to strip the phone to its bare bones such as the connector, LCD, logic board, and battery. If nothing works, then I can’t really think of anything else, sorry.
