I can turn on my iPhone 5s but that’s it. There is no response to touching the screen. I have been using this phone since the Fall of 2015 with no issues or complaints. To shut off phone I must hold both power button and home button and release them so it does not reboot. When this first occurred I could reboot it a few times and it would begin to function properly for a few minutes; but the screen would stop responding after a few minutes. Now, rebooting numerous times has no effect. I am thinking I can repair this myself, if I am aware of what to do. Thanks for any replies. (No, I don’t want a new phone. I’m cheap cheap cheap)

it will most likely need a screen replacement. one thing you could try first, though probably won’t fix your issue, would be to flash a software update through itunes. or do a full factory reset if your data has all been backed up for sure. unlikely to be a software issue but you never know, definitely weird it would sometimes work after a reset.
