I am thinking of purchasing a Tablet for the first time. I really only plan on using it with Wi-Fi. My question is, do I need to get a subscription through a phone carrier to be able to download apps (Games) and be able to play them or is having Wi-Fi enough like a having a computer? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you. Jerry
No, you don’t need a cell contract to use your tablet if you get a cellular/WiFi model (one with a SIM). If you are getting a WiFi only model then for sure you don’t need it. But, you may still want a contract if you are thinking of using it for navigation within your car. Otherwise, you’ll need to use your cellphone as a hot spot to then connect your tablet into the internet to gain access to Google maps.
Many people have no data plan tablets, too. A smartphone is a small tablet that can also make telephone calls and send/receive mobile text messages. Many don’t want, don’t need or care about paying extra for a data plan every month. To manage subscriptions in the best way, several other services for all our customers. They can only connect to the internet when they are at home, at work or elsewhere with Wi-Fi.
