Chosen Solution

So I’ve received an iPhone 6s which was water damaged. After having had it through the ultrasonic cleaner I turned it on and it all worked, at least that’s what I thought. The issue is that the phone recognises the sim card inside, shows me the phone number in iTunes and even tells me that I’ve inserted a wrong sim (its locked). But after inserting a sim card it goes to “Searching” and then within a couple of seconds goes to “No Service”. I’ve replaced the antenna on the device and still nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

This is probably a stupid question, but do you actually have no service? If you do, take off the emi shields and check for burned components, especially around the baseband.

If you recently bought the phone there is a chance it could be blacklisted. The phone will act like this if the IMEI has been blacklisted by the carrier.

An update to the PRL settings may be needed

I’ve had a similar problem with a iPhone 6 i was working on, i think it ended up being a fried coil or something, definitely a hardware issue

The iPhone could be locked to a specific network like O2 or EE so your sim would not work with the phone until it was unlocked
