Hi, so this is a weird one. My bf accidently spilled some ecig fluid which got into my charging port (last night), I let it dry naturally. I charged my phone that night and it worked fine. But today, I went to charge it and it wouldn’t charge at all. I cleaned out the charging port with a cotton bud as well as the charger and it still wouldn’t charge. After a few attempts of plugging in and un plugging my charger into my phone it eventually began to charge (it currently is charging). I’m hoping that it won’t happen again, I’m a uni student and really can’t afford a new phone nor to get my current phone fixed. Any tips?
There is most likely more fluid inside of the port if you have the issue intermittently happen. Turn the phone off and try cleaning with 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol and a brush. The syrupy consistency of ecig liquid makes it similar to when a drink with sugar is spilled onto a device. The mineral in it begin to corrode metal when it makes contact. If cleaning does not fully resolve, you may need a port replacement.
