i have a Lg Optimius G LS970. The Phone Locked me out and is asking for Email and Pass-code. Unfortunately i do not have my info, I am attempting to do a factory Hard Reset, however while holding down the Volume Down Button + Power Button, the Phone goes to the LG Boot Up screen and then shuts off. if i let go of the buttons the phone just boots up completely and takes me to the screen that asks for email and pass-code. Any Form of help would be nice, Thank You - Alex
Exact same thing happened to me. The phones recovery wouldn’t work. U power the phone off..wait 4-5 seconds after it goes off and then you hold the volume down button and power button….as soon as lg screen comes on you let go of the power button ONLY for a sec and push it again while still holding the volume down the entire time..keep it there until the factory page comes on.. It took me a cpl tries.. I’m not sure if I held the volume button down and power at the same time in the first step or hit volume for a a second before the power so u can try both
The hard reset steps are : 1.Turn off the phone 2. Press and hold Volume Down Key + Power/Lock Key at the same time. 3. Release the keys when the FACTORY HARD RESET screen appears. 4. Read the warning and press the Power/ Lock Key to confirm. Press any other key to cancel. 5. Press the Power/Lock Key to confirm once more or press any other key to cancel. 6. Your device will perform a hard reset. If not working maybe the recovery is broken. You can use LG Mobile Support tool to repair your LG cell phone, after download select menu Customer Support > Recovery Phone LG LS970 Optimus G Safe Mode and System Recovery Using Safe mode To recover your LG LS970 phone when malfunctioning.
- Turn off your phone and reboot. When you see the booting animation (Rethink Possible SM) press and hold the Volume Down Key . Your Home screen will then be displayed with the words “Safe mode” in lower left corner.
- From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key and tap All settings > General tab > Applications.
- Tap one of the available tabs at the top of the screen and select the application you wish to uninstall.
- Tap Uninstall and OK to confirm.
- After uninstalling the application, turn off and reboot your phone. Rember that this steps will delete your data!! Tell me if working!!
With the phone off hold the power/lock key and volume down at the same time. Once the back/home/menu key lights up release all the buttons. This will take you to the recovery menu. Use the volume keys to highlight the option you want then use the MENU button to enter your command. The power/lock key does not work as the enter command. Hope this helps.

This question was asked I seen you a couple years ago but I was having the same problem and I figured that I put in my answer. I found that if you do not have your phone charged to more than 30% battery and you are unable to do the reset on the phone. I’m assuming because the reset will be cancelled if the phone dies completely. Hope this helps!
Yes yes, I think it is because either your volume button isn’t working, or you keep on clicking the home button first. Try the volume button, then home button.. If not, probably time to either change your password or get a new phone.. My brother had the same problem.
