So I got home and had 12% power left on my phone. I go into another room and then come back, and my phone is powered off. I go to plug in the charging cable and it won’t even bring up the charging screen when it’s turned off. Nor will it power up at all. The charging cable and block isn’t the problem. Ruled that out. It’s a problem with the phone itself. Not sure if it’s a battery problem or charging port problem. I haven’t had it serviced or cleaned since I bought it when it came out brand new. Any advice? Update (07/24/2020) It was a bad battery that was at 84% capacity and the charging port did in fact go bad. The place I took it to did a great job in repairing it and at a decent price. Cheaper than buying a new phone, but mine has 160+ GB of storage so I don’t need a new one.

My guess is 2 possibilities. First you have bad battery and it won’t take a charge anymore. The easiest way to check is put in a known good battery and see if that fixes the problem. If the battery health gets down to 80 percent it needs a new battery. You could also have a bad tristar ic which controls charging and data transfer. It’s usually damaged by using aftermarket charging cables that aren’t MFI Certified. You can have a shop check the tristar ic. It only takes a minute and they most likely won’t charge you
