I installed some larger memory inside my desktop pc and when I was sitting it down it slipped out of my hands. It wasn’t high up, less than a foot and only the rear of the pc hit . But when I try to turn it on the fan starts/runs but there is no longer a power light that used to come on when I pushed power button. Plus there is no image on screen. How can I figure out what happened and fix it? I am interested in fixing this myself since I have plenty of time and ambition. I also work on computers some and fairly knowledgeable, but no expert. Will someone tell me what/how to fix this please? Thank you ! ! COMPAQ PRESSARIO SR2050NX [DESK TOP]

Hi @slowboy , First thing to check is if the power supply is OK and that it is supplying all of the voltages necessary to run the PC, not just the fans. Here’s a link that describes how to test a PSU. If you have a HDD (not an SSD) installed, can you hear it spin up when you try to start the PC? If not the PC may not even be starting. If the PSU is OK, next is to remove the RAM and restart the PC and check if you can hear any error beeps, (I’m assuming that the PC has an internal speaker connected to the motherboard). If you can’t then there is a problem on the motherboard as the PC is not progressing to a point where it fails POST (Power On Self Test) due to the missing RAM. When working inside a PC ensure that the power cord is disconnected until you are ready to start on whatever test you wish to perform, then reconnect the power cord. Nothing worse than working on it with the power still connected.

the fuse should not be blown maybe the screen cord broke cheak in side to see if any cords broke

Start by unplugging next put ur old ram back in and reaseat your processor chip. Don’t worry about light just yet.
