Hi, my Kindle Paperwhite suddenly stopped turning on after a full charge. I tried resetting it (long-press power for 10, 20, 40, even up to 80 seconds) but it doesn’t work. I tried removing the battery and leaving it overnight and re-inserting. Doesn’t work. Here’s the weird thing - the battery seems fine (doesn’t drain overnight at 3.8V), but when it’s in the device it seems to be draining quickly. The kindle isn’t charging it fully even though I’ve left it for nearly 2 days. When I keep the power button pressed for around 10 seconds, this happens: https://youtu.be/VoGxAfrIzug But nothing after.
I’ve had this happen a few times sadly with my Paperwhite - randomly goes completely dead and gives the 4 flashing orange leds when the power button is pressed. I have had success by simply switching the charging cable with another I had lying around. I don’t know why it works but it’s worked both times for me. I hope this will help someone else out.
I have the same issue, but I wondering if it is a problem with the new software that was downloaded. The night before it was fine and it had downloaded just prior to that? My gut tells me this could be the reason..like a glitch or something (probably so you have to purchase a new one)
Hi!
Same problem here. I was reading my Kindle and went to make coffee and eat something. When I returned, it was in standby or so I thought. Since then, it’s doing exactly what is in the video you posted.
Did you have any luck? P.S. It’s the model DP75SDI
I have the same issue. I took the Kindle appart and desoldered the shields and I think it is a short in the processor (MCIMX6L8DVN10AB)
I have Kindle Paperwhite 7th Gen running for last 5.5 yrs. And I had exactly the same problem as shown in the youtube video posted. I opened the kindle, knowing ultimately I may have to throw it. When nothing worked after spending hours I tried a weird thing - took a small piece of metal and touched across the inside housings etc. suddenly all lights switched on and it started to reboot. It worked for me, and may work for some other as well - so I thought to post. By no means it is a professional advice. I do not the know the reason why this happened but I got it fixed a weird way. I would suggest to not let your kindle drain completely - atleast this is what happened for my device so I guess not letting it drain completely will keep it safe for longer.
uhm so well, this is for you guys who still searching for the answer. I tried all the ways to fix like change the battery, use the adb command, hit the power button as hard as I can. Then, I plug the cable, in the right of the number 2 shields house of processer, find the CR500 area and hit all of that three-point by metal for seconds. The kindle will light up and show the battery-warn icon. Keep it for a while (I don’t know but I did that), then unplug, press the button and keep it till the kindle start. Goodluck guys.
hi, anyone solved the problem? might it be a software update? i have a Kindle 2020, bought Apr 2021, so it has to work…
