I have about a 2 inch panel on the bottom of my screen. It is not opaque, so I can see some through it. It has vertical lines on the panel.
@boommer1 you will need to let us know what model your TV is. Also post some images of what your screen displays with your question. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. It will allow us to see what you see. From your description alone it sounds like a bad panel.
