I purchased an HP Chromebook 14 for my wife. I am trying to connect it to our password protected home network. I am unable to and am receiving an error stating “unable to connect” “out of range”. This has happened since it came out of the box and it occurs even when I’m two feet away from the router. We currently have another Chromebook on this network, two mobile devices, an iPad and an Xfinity Genie. All of these have connected without ever having an issue. I have looked at all kinds of forums on how to rectify this issue. I have powered down the modem and router numerous times utilizing the correct procedure. I have upgraded to the latest router firmware. I have Power Washed the Chromebook twice. All to no avail. The Chromebook will connect to another wireless source however. I have a MiFi for work, and it will connect to that just fine. My wireless router is a Net Gear and my home internet service is Comcast for reference although I doubt that this matters. I am not a techie, but can take directions well if somebody has any ideas.
I think it’s a hardware issue. About to return mine due to the same issue.
