Hi, as per a suggestion to download El Capitan from a direct link being http://osxapps.itunes.apple.com/apple-as… I now have this file and am unable to use it to create a usb, I have later read a whole process may be involved to link the download to a local host ect. I just clicked on the link to download, now I’m out of mobile data till the end of the month if there is no way for me to use this file. Can anyone help please :-) Update (04/23/2018) When I click on the package it says:- The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.) Couldn’t open “ftk3252456602304584541.pkg”.
You’ll need to create an install USB Thumb drive following these instructions: How to make a bootable OS X 10.11 El Capitan installer drive The installer won’t work without being mounted from a different drive or partition that is Mac OS-X/macOS. But before you go down this path how about telling us a bit more on why you think you need to install the OS.
