Hi there I have a samsung 65 qled 4k purchased 2018 had a power outage stop working only thing is the ir light comes on then flashes couple of times, now I’ve researched and believed it was the powerboard so I replaced that still nothing then I removed the cable that connects the powerboard to the main board turn the power on and the backlight turns on and stays on,so it leaves me to think mainboard gone?can anyone help before I purchase another mainboard they are expensive in Australia, cheers anyone?

Hi, What is the full model number of the TV? By IR light do you mean the LED Power On/Off light? Does the LED power light turn on and stay when power is first connected to the TV, but the TV is not turned on? If so repeat your test with the mainboard-power board cable disconnected i.e. TV backlights turn on and stay on, and check the voltages at the power board connector where the mainboard cable was connected to before you disconnected it. The voltage values are usually printed on the board close to the connector. If they are as marked then if the TV has a tcon board i.e. board between mainboard and screen i.e. usually one cable from mainboard to tcon board and two cables from tcon board to screen, disconnect the power from the TV and reconnect the cable between the boards, reconnect the power to the TV. Look for a fuse (smd type) on the tcon board close to where the mainboard cable connects and check if there is voltage there when the TV is turned on. If there is no voltage at the tcon board then it may be the mainboard, if there is then it could be either. Be safety aware when working in the back of a TV with the power connected as there is exposed lethal AC voltage on the power board. If you don’t know how to test safely then don’t do it!
