Having a strange display issue with my mid 2013 MacBook Air. I have tried disconnecting cleaning and reconnecting the screen cable on the logic board with no joy. Do I need to replace the screen cable running into the display?

Sadly your LCD panel has failed. Likely from a bang or heavy weight pressed on the lid cracking the delicate connections along the bottom of the glass panel.
