Would I have to replace the entire keyboard if one key (letter) is not working?
It depends on what happened and if you have a broken switch element. Check out this site for details on how to ID your key parts TheBookYard - MacBook Pro keycaps. If you really need a new keyboard I would recommend you just replace the full uppercase as its just easier and about the same cost!
