Hi I have this Macbook and it does not charge when it is on. When it is off it charges, but any attempt to turn it on does not work. I have tried everything I could find online (shift ctr option power, fn ctr command power, etc). Once charged I unplug and leave it over night and somehow it turns on the next day. Two things to note: for the past two weeks the command-space search has not worked (maybe a software issue). And also I moved from Canada (110V) to Brazil (usually 200V+ but my landlord says 110 in the house).
Your Apple charger is able to work with either 120 or 220 volt systems so that shouldn’t be an issue. But many cheap fakes don’t support dual voltage! It could have even damaged your system!
