I recently replace my macbook’s screen with the one ordered from AliExpress. Everything was working fine(even the touchbar) but the screen had some issues, so I tried to reinstall the screen again, and then suddenly the touchbar was not working. I tried resetting SMC, NVRAM, and reinstalling the OS with no luck. I even updated the firmware using Apple Configurator 2. However, when I open System Information, I can see that the Touchbar is recognized by the system. Also, all the options related to touchbar are now disappeared from the Keyboard Settings menu. Is there anything else that I can try? Edit 1 https://postimg.cc/hzdwjdGJ Edit 2 https://postimg.cc/9RS1zvYX/232c0804 Edit 3 https://postimg.cc/gallery/vBnXHxd
My guess is that the touchbar connector or the motherboard near the touchbar connector was damaged during install or removal of the screen. It is very common for the screen hinge to damage that area when removing the screen. Inspect this area of the motherboard and observe for damage to the board or connector. Try reconnecting the touchbar as well. https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/…
I am suffering from similar symptoms. Is there anywhere else to check other than the flat cable? The keyboard doesn’t light up and the touch bar doesn’t work either. When I start it up, it always says “cannot update due to problems” and I can’t proceed from there.
