Seeing as the old screen had touch before replacement I’m wondering if by not disconnecting the battery caused a short somewhere. I know in the case of some phones like the 6S you can blow the back light circuit if you don’t disconnect the battery and accidentally short a couple lines when you connect the new screen resulting in no image. If you can, get a local shop to look at it if they have a screen in stock just to narrow out the potential for a bad screen. The old one could’ve been damaged upon removal. But also make sure the connections are firm. I know in the case of the X, I sometimes don’t properly connect the touch connector resulting in no touch response. Inspect the connectors for any damage such as bent or missing pins along with tears in the flex cables.
