My Samsung KS8000 TV’s standby light is off and won’t power on now. So, I opened it up to visually inspect both the power and main boards for any blown capacitors, etc. Everything looked good so I plugged the power back in and it worked. I put the cover back on the TV, placed it on the stand and now the standby light won’t come on. Only when I gently shake the TV does the LED standby light come back on and the TV works fine for hours. What do you think is causing this issue b/c it’s happening intermittently and shaking it makes it work again? Nothing looked loose when I had the back panel off too. Thanks, Todd Update (12/26/2022) Hi Andrew, Here is a photo of my power supply as requested.
Update (01/01/2023) @jayeff So I put my TV back on the stand and plugged it in and now it isn’t working at all and is showing vertical bands as shown in this photo:
It was not doing this when I had it face down on my table. Hope this can be remidied by replacing the main board and isn’t an issue with the panel now or something else as I was being super careful throughout the whole process. ☹️
Hi @ddbx46 With the power connected to the TV check if the STB reference point at power board connector CNM803 pin 11 is 7.5V DC. This is the standby voltage signal sent from the power board to the mainboard to indicate that power is available to the TV. It is the mainboard that turns on the standby power LED If there is no voltage or if it is not 7.5V DC then there’s a problem with the power board. Here’s an image to show where it is located.
(click on image) Shaking the TV sounds like a loose connection so if there is the correct voltage at the reference point check that the cable that is plugged into CNM803 is secure and also where this cable plugs into the mainboard. If there is no voltage check the power cord connection to the power board. Do this with the power disconnected from the TV as there is exposed lethal voltage on the power board
