Chosen Solution
Mine is doing the same thing. No sound on TV or any other input device. Should I just get a new TV? If I do, it won’t be a Vizio!
‘’’++jcmnmom++’’’ agree with your choice of TV :-)but that is not important right now. Let’s see if we can get this to a point where it’ll work again. Have you tried to connect a sound bar etc. to your TV.? Let us know what model it is and what you have tried. Check all of your settings and see if it has something like speaker enable etc. If everything checks out, you could try and connect a separate speaker to your existing ones just to rule out the speakers itself. The audio IC is commonly on the main board, but we are talking Vizio here, so this could be something totally different. Once you check the settings and it does not change anything, you may have to remove the back of your TV and check the boards for obviously damaged components like domed or leaking caps, burn marks on traces etc. Post some good images of your boards with your question. that way we can see what you see and can possibly guide you for further troubleshooting. Here is the guide for that Adding images to an existing question As for buying a new TV, I’d say wait a bit and see if we can fix “the beast”. Keep it out of the e-waste landfill a little longer ;-)
