This is a rather simplistic amplifier that has few external safety devices. If everything works except for sound and the speakers are attached correctly, then the internal amplifier protection circuit or fuse has been triggered. Without opening up the unit and checking some of the components, it is impossible to indicate the exact problem. Since these units are less than $60 new, it is not likely worth the repair should you need to bring this to a service provider. If you want to open up the unit and take a few pictures of the circuit boards, I may be able to guide you through the repair. Dan
