Lenovo Flex 5-14ARE05 Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81X2 COMPLETELY unresponsive, I’m somewhat knowledgeable in repairs, I’ve disassembled and reassembled, inspected for any noticable damage, none I can see with my naked eye, no burnt smell at all from anywhere. Reason I say that, the charger cable (65w type C that came with the laptop) was faulty with exposed wire I hadn’t seen, I picked up the laptop and heard electrical noise (very faint crackle) and the computer went down completely. Again tho, no smell, nothing obviously burned. When preforming the power drain and all the troubleshooting ideas, the power button light will blink once every 10(ish) seconds. The graphics card and wifi chip heat up when I connect the internal battery. I purchased a replacement charger from Lenovo, the same as the one that shipped. Is it a lost cause?

Hi @wolfjflywheel , Bit early to give up. Test the DC-In jack either with an Ohmmeter (unplug the battery from motherboard) to check for continuity of both the inner pin and the outer ring connector of the jack from the input to the output of the jack or with a voltmeter and the charger connected to see if there is voltage getting through the jack and onto the motherboard What is the model number of the motherboard? Is it a LC55-14A 19793 1M? If it is then I can’t find the schematics for it, BUT have found the schematics for a Flex 5 type 81XB which hopefully may be close enough, if only to check the DC input circuit from the DC-In jack forward to find out why the voltage from the charger is not being detected etc. Unfortunately you have to buy it as i can’t find any free downloads for the schematics online for a Flex 5 any model.
