Hello, My mother has a Samsung UN58H5202AF tv that just powered off while she was watching it. It will no longer power on and the red standby light is no longer lit up either. I have tried the troubleshooting steps such as full reset by holding power while unplugging and such, unplugged for several days, checked outlet, remote, etc. Seems it is likely a hardware issue. I watched some videos regarding checking capacitors. I went ahead and removed the panel, but the video showed bulging capacitors which I do not appear to have any that are bulging, so I am not sure that is my issue. I really don’t know much about this stuff, so hoping someone may be able to give me some direction on what to do and how to do it. Thanks for reading, Ash D
Hi @breach , Was there a storm occurring when the TV powered off? If the TV is connected to a power board, try connecting it directly to a wall outlet and check if it now works Have you checked that the fuse on the TV’s power board is OK? If the fuse is OK then you need to check that the various voltage outputs being supplied by the power board are OK. If you don’t have a suitable DMM (digital multimeter) and if you don’t know how to use one, as there are potentially lethal voltages on the power board when the power is connected to the TV, even in the standby state, I suggest that you contact a reputable, professional TV repair service and ask for a quote to repair the TV.
