I was recently installing a 2tb ssd in to my late 2011 mbp and when I was prying the battery connector I touched one the capacitors or something with a the metal end of the tool I was using thought I heard a noise not 100% but now it will not power on , how do I trouble shoot this ? There was no problem with the battery prior to this, should I cut my loses and look for a new board ? Can this board be repaired for cheap by me , I am somewhat technologically savvy and determined lol

At this point I doubt you can fix this on your own.. Time to find someone with deeper skills to check things out. Depending on what’s damaged on the logic board it might be repairable, otherwise you’ll need a new logic board.
