so when I turn on my tv, the logo turns on and off quickly and the screen remains black. If I put a flashlight to the screen I can see the shapes/ menus etc. i have tried my hardest trying to find the answer to what is broken. from my understanding the backlight isn’t working. the tv is JVC EM39FT model when i took off the back panel, there are only 2 boards. The power supply & the main board. It doesn’t seem like I have a “slave board”. So a lot of answers online confuse me. the thing is, I use chrome cast and the sound works since I can cast through chrome cast and if the main board uses chrome cast does that mean the main board is good ? Since chrome cast is working? The power supply I have no idea if that’s the problem? Because technically my tv is turning on but not the backlight? antone have any way I can figure out what board needs to be replaced or if the backlight needs to be replaced?
@alexstreet you are correct in assuming that this “If I put a flashlight to the screen I can see the shapes/ menus etc.” is a backlight issue. Simplified, the backlight gets turned on by the main board sending a signal to the power board. You will have to start by measuring the voltages on the connector from the power board to the main board. After that measure the voltage output to the backlight LED’s. Let us know what you find out. Post some good pictures of your boards and their layout on your chassis, with your Question so that we can see what you see. If the voltages are good but you still do not have a backlight it is possible that backlight LED array (strip) have failed. to replace those you would have to disassemble your panel. Again, we’ll have to see what you are working with. Adding images to an existing question
