Chosen Solution
turned on my Sony bravia 42" tv and immediately the whole scree was covered with vertical lines about a pixel or two in width. the color of the lines changed as the image changed. Could it be that the firmware got clobbered and is there a way to reload the software? Had a problem with my 52" Sony years ago and they sent me a thumb drive with a software update that fixed the problem. Called Sony they were no help!
Bob, you did not tell us which model your TV is. You should get the firmware for your TV from here. Once you downloaded it, extract it to a USB drive. Take that drive and plug it into your Bravia’s “service” port. Then turn your TV on and it should install the firmware. If the update should not have the expected result, you might want to post an image of your TV screen on here, so we can see what you see, for a better solution. You could try a reset and see if that makes a difference. Again, we would need your model number to give you the proper procedure. Should any of those things not work, I would plan on trying to find a T-con board for your model. That is the board that controls the LCD’s lines and pixels.Hope this helps, good luck. ==UPDATE==
