I replaced my DLP lamp as it was making a crackling sound. The new lamp does the same and will not light up either. I can see it firing but not lightiing.
@ged52 sounds like the lamp was not your issue. I would suggest that you check the ballast and maybe can listen closer to where the crackling comes from. Check the voltage to the ballast. It should be about 280V. If there is no voltage, change the power supply. Post plenty of images with your question so that we can see what you see. Use this guide for that. Careful with your ballast, it packs a punch of a couple of thousand volts on ignition.
