Chosen Solution
Hi guys, I have an A1502 MacBook that had no keyboard and no touch pad, only the on/off button working. After reading through a number of threads I decided to order and replace the touch pad cable, this got the touch pad working but I still have no keyboard. Any ideas? The keyboard backlight is ok, and an external keyboard works ok. If I go to settings it’s telling me there is no keyboard present. Cheers Charlie. Update (08/02/2018) Thanks Dan, physically the battery looks OK, not swollen at all. I tried coconut battery like you suggested, these are the results Age: 390 days Load Cycles: 181 Status: Good Failure: None
It sounds like your battery has become swollen. What happens is both the trackpad cable (on top) and the keyboard cable (underneath) get pressed upon slowly killing them. You solved the trackpad cable but you also need to do the keyboard cable underneath the battery. But before we go their you should check your battery. There are two tests the first via software running CoconutBattery to see how many cycles the battery has run through. The other is to carefully take a plastic straight edge to see if the battery has swelled up after you have charged it. I’m sure one off not both tests will show the battery is on its last legs and needs to be replaced.
