Hey there, I’m having the same issue. However when I connect to external display, I get nothing. Fans spinning, boot sounds. but black display, flashed a light on it and can’t seem to see any images in the background. I believe its my inverter board. I’ve order a new one, hoping to have solved the issue. Any help is appreciated! thanks!
If you can’t get an external display to work I think you have a bad graphics board.
Shine a light on the screen at an angle to see if you can discern the desktop. If so, you are correct on the inverter board. But Dan is correct on the external display.
