I’ve done all of the tests I’ve seen, pushed the corner, ran it in diagnostic mode, everything was fine. I hear very quiet static, and the volume of it changes with the volume of the iPod. The clicker function still works.
@echo77 since there are no schematics and diagrams for the iPod it will be tough to narrow it down to a component etc. I would go ahead and repalce the audio jack flex. If can give you the symptoms you describe iPod 5th Generation (Video) Headphone Jack & Hold Switch Replacement Once you replaced it re-evaluate and see what comes up. Audio IC would be my last suspect but it is a possibility.
