When it was new and I was unfamiliar with it I was particularly annoyed by incessant “recalculating” messages. I quickly found a menu that offered the option to turn off the audio and I did. In retrospect I should have just used mute but as I said I was unfamiliar with it. I have never been able to find that menu again. I suspect I may have accidentally blundered into a service menu not intended for users or perhaps a firmware update just eliminated it. The question(s) . . . is there some combination of buttons (like a secret handshake) I can use to call up that menu again, or can I get the original firmware if that is what is necessary, or do I have to send it to a repair center? If the latter, I’ll likely just continue to live with it but I do miss the red light warnings etc . . .
I would first try to factory reset from the device menus, then flash firmware with garmin’s provided software http://www8.garmin.com/support/collectio…
