I got my hand on this new macbook pro for about half day and right after my update to the latest Sierra OS, the battery status turned to “replace now” and also the computer would shut off if i unplug the chord. It is not a pleasant experience. As there is no apple store in the country, returning it isn’t as easy. So, what is likely cause of this?
Take it back to the store and either get a replacement or your money back.
Common Battery errors from the OS (Windows and Mac) are actually caused from the charger, try replacing the charger with a new OEM charger and allow the computer 6+ hours to charge before booting. This may fix your problem.
