Only 12 hours on this new Craftsman zero turn Briggs and Stratton engine riding mower. Suddenly shut down while mowing. Will crank but not start. I did the following, Checked oil - Ok Checked spark and plugs -Ok Checked fuel system, fuel line is pumping gas. Pulled flywheel and replaced flywheel key. Checked fuse - Ok Used ether starter fluid - still cranks, but will not start at all. Currently checking fuel solenoid - don ’t have answer yet. I would have suspected a safety switch, but my experience is that safety switches will not allow the engine to even crank. What now? Thanks for any help you can give! Bruse
@bruse “Used ether starter fluid - still cranks, but will not start at all.” sounds like a no spark situation. If it would be a fuel issue it would fire with the starter fluid. You do want to check the safety switches since on one of mine it cuts the electrical off. before you get in to deep, remember that this is a new mower. Any major issues should definitely still be covered under warranty. Here is the wiring diagram for the Z-series. It should allow you to check your electrical system out.
Bruce - did u ever figure out the issue? I am having exact same issue with my craftsman zero turn with a kohler engine
Second new mover delivered today, suspect it’s the fuel pump, because it won’t start unless my husband blows into the fuel tank. Craftsman Zero Turn 52" cut. How likely can it be 2 mowers in a week .
